The Chiefs’ loss against the Packers in Week 13 was in part overshadowed by an inconsistent performance from the officiating crew.
Among a slew of questionable decisions late in the game on Sunday Night Football was a missed defensive pass interference call against Green Bay during Kansas City’s final drive of the game. Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling appeared to be hit early by Packers cornerback Carrington Valentine while attempting to make a catch, though no flag was thrown on the play.
Speaking on the no-call after the game, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t question the official’s decision, indicating to reporters that he was on board with the notion of letting the players play.

“At the end of the game, they let the guys play. I’m about that,” said Mahomes, via Jacob Morley of Packer Report.
While fans on social media might not have viewed the incident with such patience, Mahomes didn’t complain about the decision, instead insisting the onus is on him to make a better throw.
“If I get the ball out there, then he scores a touchdown. That’s what I’m saying. You don’t want flags, man. I gotta make the throw. If I make the throw, then I wouldn’t be wanting a flag,” he said, via Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star.
Travis Kelce echoed the sentiment from Mahomes, saying the loss falls squarely on the Chiefs’ shoulders, not the refs.
“We can’t blame this thing on anyone but ourselves,” said Kelce of the loss.
Kansas City fell to 8–4 following the defeat on Sunday. They’ll look to get back on track at Arrowhead Stadium against the Bills in Week 14.
