Former left-back Patrice Evra believes Manchester United's problems will not be solved through the method of bringing in new players ahead of the transfer window closing.
United, who will be desperate to secure their first win under manager Erik ten Hag when they face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Monday evening, are close to completing their fourth signing of the summer in the form of Real Madrid ace Casemiro. The defensive-midfielder is on the cusp of finalising a switch to Old Trafford after United confirmed that they had reached an agreement with the Spanish side on Friday evening.
The Brazilian is a much-needed addition to United's squad, with the club having been desperate to sign a central-midfielder all summer.

United have been chasing Frenkie de Jong, who is a ball-playing midfielder, for several months, but turned their focus to a defensive-minded midfielder following last Saturday's 4-0 drubbing at Brentford. But although Casemiro will strengthen United, Evra believes signing players in an act of desperation will not solve the club's ongoing struggles.
"If you buy any players now it's desperation and it won't be good," Evra told Betfair. "Those things should have been done before pre-season.
"Don't get me wrong, when everyone saw pre-season I can understand why Ten Hag, the staff and the board would have thought the squad looks good. Who are they going to bring to Manchester United and who is coming to play for United?
"If you have Chelsea, Liverpool, even Tottenham - a player will pick them instead of Man United. De Jong doesn't want to come to United, he'd prefer to go to Chelsea.
"There's a lot of noise in the papers, but we're doing the same mistakes. I'm a positive man but things don't look good. Simple."
