People who switched from injectable weight-loss drugs to Novo Nordisk's Wegovy pill lost an average of 4.1% of their body weight in the three months after switching, according to real-world data released by Novo and presented Sept. 30 at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting in Milan.
The study, called OCTANE, followed 194 adults with overweight or obesity who moved from injectable semaglutide or tirzepatide to the once-daily pill. It was conducted by Novo and the telehealth company Ro. The data are early and observational, not from a randomized trial, and they did not compare switchers with people who stayed on shots.
