Partick Thistle win was 'perfect' but give me more, says Hamilton Accies boss

Hamilton Accies boss Stuart Taylor watched his side tear Partick Thistle apart in a 'perfect performance' at Firhill last weekend and has urged 'same again' when Queen of the South come calling this weekend.

Strikes by Andy Ryan and David Moyo had Accies 2-0 up at the interval, with Ryan netting his double before Andy Winter added a fourth, and Taylor admits that has given his side a major boost.

It leaves them nine points clear of basement side Queen of the South going into Saturday's clash, and gives them the chance to move closer to Raith Rovers in fifth spot.

Taylor says that has always been the target, but that his side maybe has that little extra incentive now.

He said: "Queen of the South are under different management now, Willie Gibson has gone in and done really well, and they're actually playing really good football.

"They're a real threat in games, we've watched their last three games and other games throughout the time that he has been in, and they've done really well.

"It's going to be a really difficult game, and certainly with the result last night for Dunfermline [4-1 win over Partick Thistle] it changes their league position, so they'll be fighting, and doing everything they have to go and do to try and get some sort of a foothold in the game.

"It's important that we go and be as confident as we have been and make sure that we go and stamp our authority on the game early doors, and try to win the game.

"I think if we win the game we hopefully go closer to the teams above us, which is huge for us. It's all about what can we do to get above the teams that are above us, or get closer to the teams that are above us, that's our motivation and it always has been - that will never change.

"It's about building on a good win, on the back of a good point, but also on the back of some good performances over a longer period of time.

"It's really a case of what we did on Saturday, can we continue to do that, can we do it a little bit better again.

"It's about driving us on, and creating more opportunities and still being as strong as we are at the back."

Taylor was pleased with the win over Thistle, and says it was fully merited, with his entire team at the top of their game.

He said: "I thought the front three were excellent, the middle four were brilliant and the back three, including Ryan Fulton for keeping the clean sheet were fantastic.

"The win was a huge boost. There have maybe been games that we've played up until now where we've had opportunities to score three and four goals. We've repeatedly said we need to be more ruthless in front of goal, and on both sides of the pitch. We were that on Saturday.

"We took our chances, we could have got more, but we kept a clean sheet, which was the perfect performance and result, really.

"I would love to say a result like that had been coming, that we've had opportunities loads of times where we could have scored two, three, maybe four if we were really ruthless.

"But what I do think is that the performances that we've been showing for quite a lot of this season we certainly merited goals, clean sheets and three points.

"I think Saturday was perfect in how we went and set out our stall and how we went to go and play, and how we wanted to get our rewards - and we got our rewards."
