Amid reports that superstar forward Kylian Mbappé could potentially leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reportedly issued an ultimatum to the 24-year-old.
Al-Khelaifi said in a press conference that Mbappé, who has long been linked with Real Madrid, will be forced to sign a new contract this to remain in Paris, or else the French club will look to offload him immediately.
The latest drama in Mbappé’s PSG tenure was sparked about a month ago when the striker announced that he didn’t intend to re-sign with the club when his contract expires in 2024.
PSG, desperate to cash in on its prized player, could look to sell him during the current transfer window in order to receive a massive fee, rather than let him go as a free agent.
“We do not want him to leave for free in 2024,” Al-Khelaifi said. “Our position is clear. If Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free. It’s impossible.”
Real Madrid has long been linked with Mbappé, who was pursued by the Spanish club last year before signing a two-year deal to remain in Paris.
