A 27-year-old man's dilemma over his wedding budget has sparked a discussion on Reddit after his parents suggested that he take a Rs 45 lakh personal loan to fund a lavish wedding estimated to cost around Rs 50 lakh.

The man shared his situation on Reddit's r/IndiaFinance, saying his parents want a grand wedding with around 1,500 guests following his love marriage. The post, titled “Parents want a Rs 50L wedding funded with a personal loan. Am I being unreasonable for not wanting this debt?”, was published on September 18.
