Parents of premature twins thank Newcastle hospital unit for saving precious son's life

A dad who was unable to attend the birth of his premature twins due to Covid is to take on a mammoth two-day challenge to give thanks to the ward who cared for his son.

Sylvie Rose and Wynn Stancliffe were born at 10 weeks premature on August 24, 2021, after their mum Laura Stancliffe was admitted to hospital with Pre-eclampsia, a condition that causes high blood pressure during pregnancy and can be serious if not treated.

When the twins were born dad Ben tested positive for Covid and was unable to meet his newborns in hospital until they were three days old. During this time, the twins were receiving neonatal care together at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
