The parents of the 20-year-old individual who fired shots towards former President Trump are licensed professional counselors through the Pennsylvania social work board. Mary Elizabeth Crooks and Matthew Brian Crooks, residing in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, hold active licenses as professional counselors, as confirmed by the Pennsylvania Department of State Licensing System Verification service.
Both Mary and Matthew have been professional counselors since 2002, and their licenses are valid until February 2025. The 20-year-old assailant's family home, where the shooting incident took place at a Trump rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, is currently under investigation by the FBI. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
According to records, the shooter was a registered Republican voter. However, campaign finance reports revealed that the individual donated $15 to a progressive political action committee on January 20, 2021, the day President Biden was inaugurated into office. During the incident, a bullet fired by the assailant grazed Trump's right ear and tragically resulted in the death of firefighter Corey Comperatore. The shooter was positioned approximately 130 yards away in an elevated location.
