A mum has admitted that she and her husband are cutting down on their own meals - so they can afford to feed their children. Paying for household bills is a struggle which Kalli Spearitt and her partner say is getting worse as the cost of living crisis intensifies.
Kalli, from Clubmoor in Liverpool, said she and her husband reducing what they eat so that they can continue to give their two children proper meals. The family have a household income of around £18,000.
Kalli helped to set up a food pantry for other struggling families in the Clubmoor area. Now she has told BBC Radio 4 about the need to extend free school meals to more households amid soaring inflation and energy costs.
