Parents who were fined nearly £500 for taking their children out of school for a term-time holiday have spoken of their anger. Dad Paul Benson said the £480 penalty they incurred was "unfair".
After he and another parent, Gemma Dunmore, spoke of their disapproval, a council has said it would review the criteria used for issuing fines and explore other ways to resolve the cases, reports YorkshireLive.
Mr Benson and his wife Jessica took their children, Ruby and George, to Florida twice previously, being fined £240 on each occasion. He said he was warned before the last trip, in September, it would have a detrimental effect on one of their youngsters’ education.
