Paramount Plus continues to add more to try and earn a spot on our best streaming services. It's already a great way to get your local CBS broadcast, watch Champions League live streams and "Yellowstone" spinoffs, but it's yet to truly gain a big must-see show or movie that would demand signups in the first place.
The big news around Paramount Plus is its impending price hike this August. Now that Showtime has merged into Paramount Plus as a part of its higher-end tier, called Paramount Plus with Showtime, both the entry-level and premium tiers will soon be going up again.

Paramount Plus' future, though, holds its other keys to success. "Dexter: Original Sin" is landing on the streamer as it follows up the original Showtime series, and the new "Star Trek: Section 31" movie is headed to the service as well as plenty of other "Star Trek" spin-offs and series for Trekkies to devour, for example.

Paramount Plus price and discounts

Its second, ad-free tier, Paramount Plus with Showtime, costs $11.99 per month. Yes, there used to be a $9.99 Premium tier. It's gone.

Paramount Plus is also now available in the United Kingdom (£6.99 per month or £69.90 per year), Australia ($8.99 AUD per month) and the Republic of Ireland (€7.99 a month / €79.99 per year).
Paramount Plus apps and devices
Unlike a lot of recent streaming services, Paramount Plus debuted everywhere at the same time. So that means you can watch Paramount Plus on Roku easily, unlike what early HBO Max subscribers faced. Here are the download links for all the Paramount Plus apps:

Paramount Plus release date
The streaming service launched in the U.S. and Latin America on March 4. Paramount Plus arrived in Nordic countries on March 25 and will get to Australia on August 11. Canada saw the service rebranding on March 4, but not get the expanded content until later this year.

Here are some highlights from the upcoming Paramount Plus August 2024 release list.

Paramount Plus shows
Nostalgia continues to be key, as the new big Paramount Plus show is Mike Judge's "Beavis and Butt-Head", a revival of the original series (which was finally added with the old music videos) on the service. This follows the "Halo" TV show and several other additions that fans have flocked to.
Aside that, the highly-hyped "1883" — a prequel for "Yellowstone" — was made available on Paramount Plus. Yellowstone itself, though, isn't on Paramount Plus, staying exclusive to the Paramount Network. Confusing, right?
While Paramount Plus is going to deliver a variety of new shows that are revivals and sequels to known properties — such as "Dexter: Original Sin" — we don't have release dates for all of those programs. In terms of what's available now, Paramount Plus has a variety of exclusives from CBS's leftovers, as "Evil" and "SEAL Team" are leaving the network and going to be on Paramount Plus.
There's also "Criminal Minds: Evolution", which marked a series revival for the property on Paramount Plus. Since then, the rest of "Criminal Minds" has arrived on the service as well.
Paramount Plus has also incorporated more of the ViacomCBS portfolio's live news and sports content, collecting shows and movies from both CBS, BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and the Paramount Network.
Paramount Plus movies
Paramount Plus movies usually include a lot of the studio's theatrical films going right to the streaming service after theaters.
"A Quiet Place: Day One" is currently in theaters, but it just made its digital debut. It's likely it will end up hitting Paramount Plus in the next few months as an early option for subscribers.
Previously, classics like "The Godfather" trilogy, including the original 1972 film and its first sequel arrived not too long after the platform's debut alongside with the 2020 edit of Part III.
The first big movie to hit Paramount Plus was "The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run", which arrived at launch. Later, expect "Star Trek: Section 31" and eventually "Gladiator II" that will continue the first film's legacy.
There's also a vault of 2,000+ classic films, such as iconic films like "Friday the 13th", "Rosemary's Baby" and "Airplane".
