Paramore superfan living the dream after performing with band on Glasgow stage

A Paramore superfan's dream came true at the Hydro in Glasgow when she was invited on the stage by the band to sing their smash hit Misery Business.

Dev Place, from Southampton, was following the US rock band for their UK tour and had already seen them 21 times, however, her 22nd concert was by far the most memorable.

As part of tradition front woman Hayley Williams invites a member of the audience up for the bridge and final chorus of the 2007 song. Dev was the lucky person picked out to perform at their Glasgow show.

She told Glasgow Live: "I had been front and centre at the barricade two nights in a row, I think Hayley might recognise certain faces.

"I had the most pathetic sign for Cardiff because I had to take it on the flight with me and it was really small. So I thought I had to up my game for Glasgow.

"I got a bit creative and decided a picture of Hayley's dog on it. I got the sign out for Misery Business and then the next thing I know I'm getting dragged over the barrier.

"When I got on stage she gave me a hug and then she asked if I was ok. She gave the crowd a pep talk and said they were all there to support me, which I definitely felt.

"I also spoke to Taylor, the guitarist, and he also asked if I was ok. I then looked out at the venue and I hadn't realised how big the crowd was, I said to him that this crowd is so huge and he went 'yeah, are you sure you're ok' and I said I was prepared."

Dev is a music photographer and has pictured many musicians as they wowed crowds but this experience was one she will never forget.

It was made even more special by the wonderful Glasgow crowd on April 17.

The 26-year-old said: "I always thought I'd be really nervous but if I'm honest it was just really fun.

"At the end of the day, everyone is there with a common interest. When they get someone on the stage it's not about sounding good or being cool, it's about having fun and dancing together.

"It was a very full circle moment because Paramore was my first gig. I found them back in the MySpace days, so that is around 17 years ago.

"Now I'm thinking about what 10-year-old Dev would think. I now work in music and that was down to Paramore because they are the people who got me into it."

The surreal moment never really sunk in with the delighted fan until she chatted with fellow fans before her plane home.

Dev said: "As I came out of the venue all these fans were stopping me and asking me how it was.

"Some even said that they were amazed I wasn't crying. It didn't happen until I was waiting for my gate to open for my flight home.

"My flight was delayed but I didn't care because I was running off of adrenaline and no sleep. I got a little bit teary because these two fans on the same flight came up to speak to me about it."

The Paramore fanatic is now set to see the band again on Thursday night, however, she doubts the Scottish show will ever be topped.

The music photographer said: "I think Glasgow had the best crowd of the tour.

"They are always fun and full of energy. They were very welcoming to the support bands as well.

"I did wonder what would happen when I opened my mouth and they realised I was English, but Glasgow is definitely the most hyped crowd.

"I've been so lucky to see so many great bands through work but that was an experience that not many people will ever get to experience.

"There are only three more shows left on the tour and now I feel like I can relax."
