Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund increase stake in HDFC Bank, Coal India, and 8 others in August

Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund, the largest active and flexi cap fund based on assets managed, increased its stake in HDFC Bank, Coal India and eight other stocks in August, according to the monthly portfolio disclosed by PPFAS Mutual Fund.

This flexicap fund added 90.02 lakh shares of HDFC Bank, taking its holding to nearly 15.87 crore shares from 14.97 crore shares in the previous month.

Around 82.15 lakh shares of Coal India were added to the portfolio and the fund had nearly 18.40 crore shares in its portfolio in August. Among the other eight stocks the fund added the maximum number of shares of Indraprastha Gas.

The fund added 95.53 lakh shares of Indraprastha Gas in its portfolio taking the total share count to 11.50 crore in August compared to 10.54 crore in the month of July.

CIE Automotive India, Mahanagar Gas, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maharashtra Scooters, Nesco, Petronet LNG, and Bajaj Holdings & Investment were the other seven stocks where the fund increased its stake in the month of August.

The fund reduced its exposure to The Great Eastern Shipping Company by selling 9.31 lakh shares. Its holding stood at 12.73 lakh shares in August, down from 22.05 lakh shares in July.

The new entrant in the portfolio was DLF, as the fund added 1.37 crore shares to its portfolio in August. The fund did not make a complete exit from any stock in the said month.

In August, the fund had 34 stocks in its portfolio compared to 33 stocks in the previous month. The portfolio of the fund was spread across 26 sectors with the highest holding in banks of around 20.91%. The fund had 10.32% holding in IT and nearly 6.89% in automobiles & ancillaries sector.

As a percentage to NAV, this flexi cap fund had the highest allocation in HDFC Bank of around 7.63%, followed by ICICI Bank where the allocation was 5.67% and Power Grid Corporation where the allocation was 5.58%. The fund had 65.29% in the large caps, 3.44% in mid caps, 4.35% in small caps and 26.92% in others.

Launched on May 24, 2013, the fund had an AUM of Rs 1.47 lakh crore as of August 2026 compared to Rs 1.49 lakh crore as of July 31, 2026.

The objective of the fund is to seek to generate long-term capital growth from an actively managed portfolio primarily of equity and equity related securities and the scheme shall invest in Indian equities, foreign equities and related instruments and debt securities.

The fund is benchmarked against Nifty 500 (TRI) and is managed by Rajeev Thakkar, Raunak Onkar, Raj Mehta, Rukun Tarachandani, Tejas Soman, Mansi Kariya and Aishwarya Dhar.

How did this flexicap fund perform?

Over the last three years, the fund delivered a return of 11.54%, compared with 10.53% by the benchmark. Over the last five years, it delivered 10.72%, against 10.22% by the benchmark. Over the last six months and one year, the fund was down 0.72% and 4.54%, respectively.
