A new shop is planning to open on a Nottingham street once dubbed the busiest in Europe. The vacant Virgin Media unit on Clumber Street, Nottingham city centre will be filled by a new national brand if recent plans are approved.
Paperchase, which already operates a Nottingham store on Low Pavement has filed documents to open up another shop on the busy shopping route. Before Covid, Clumber Street reportedly had an annual footfall of 19.8 million a year and at one-time had been labelled the busiest street in Europe.

If plans are approved, a new fascia sign with illuminated 'Paperchase' letters will be displayed at the shop. It had been feared in 2021 that the brand's Low Pavement shop would close, following a takeover after the company went into administration.
It's not the only shop looking to move into an empty Clumber Street plot. Jessops on Clumber Street shop closed in 2020, with charity shop the British Heart Foundation now taking up its place.
Nottinghamshire Live contacted Paperchase for comment. The planning application is currently pending consideration by Nottingham City Council.
