Injuries to Ryan Papenhuyzen and Reimis Smith have overshadowed another big Melbourne NRL win as they crushed St George Illawarra 42-6.
Knocking off the Dragons for a 16th consecutive time in Melbourne, the Storm once again never trailed their opponents in Sunday's match at AAMI Park, marking milestones for Kenny Bromwich (200th game) and Nelson Asofa-Solomona (150th) with the comfortable victory.
But Storm fans will be holding their collective breath after Papenhuyzen exited the contest in the second half after hurting his hamstring scoring his second try of the match on 50 minutes.
The fullback burst onto a Nick Meaney kick and did plant the ball down, but did not get up after scoring and instead called for the doctor.
He'd also tweaked his knee in the first half, but returned to the field.
Papenhuyzen's plight added further injury drama for the Storm, with centre Smith leaving the game early with a suspected torn pectoral muscle.
It took some of the shine off another dominant performance, the Storm now having outscored their last three opponents by a combined 144 points after 70-10 and 50-2 floggings of New Zealand and Newcastle in their previous two outings.
They were ahead after 20 minutes when Papenhuyzen produced a slicing run and made a number of Dragons miss tackles on his way to the line, before Meaney ran 75m to score under the sticks after the Storm forced a handling error for 12-0.
Mikaele Ravalawa had the Dragons' best scoring opportunity when the game remained 0-0, but he grounded a grubber on the line in-goal.
The Storm ran from 400 more metres then the Dragons in the first half and completed 10 extra sets and could have easily led by more than 12 at the half, but for two tries being chalked off by the bunker.
Papenhuyzen's second try made it 18-0 early in the second and the scoreboard really got ticking late, with Jahrome Hughes and Cameron Munster finding tries in a three-minute span.
Milestone man Asofa-Solomona, who impressed throughout with 77 post-contact metres thanks to some brutal runs, found a try on 67 minutes.
The Dragons found some late consolation as Jack De Belin scored, before Storm's Trent Loiero crashed over to seal the big win.
