Paisley’s favourite son Paolo Nutini took time off from his busy tour to make a special donation to a church in his home town for its charity raffle.
St Mirin’s Cathedral was generously gifted a signed guitar and album by the Buddie rock star.
Fresh from releasing his latest album, Last Night in the Bittersweet, the singer has been touring the globe to showcase his first songs since 2014’s Caustic Love album.
The latest stint of his tour took him back home to the west of Scotland, with a run of shows at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
But, ever humble, Paolo still found time to visit home and show his support for the community by donating the signed Fender guitar and signed copy of Last Night in the Bittersweet.
Buddies will be in with a chance of winning the special gift when St Mirin’s Cathedral holds its charity raffle in the new year.
Father Ryan Black said they were very grateful to have received the donation from Paolo.
He explained: “We are delighted that Paolo has gifted the parish with a signed guitar and album.
“While I was studying in Rome, Paolo could be heard on the radio often, which speaks to how international his fanbase is.
“Already, we have received a great deal of interest about the raffle, which we will organise in the first months of 2023.
“Like so many other parishes, businesses and families, there are financial difficulties to tackle as we come out of the pandemic. Without a doubt, the raffle will help.
He was keen to praise all the other kind individuals and businesses who have also donated to next year’s raffle.
“We’re also indebted to Universal Composite Doors Ltd and Homeshield (Scotland) for their gift of a single composite door, which will be fitted and guaranteed. The prize is worth approximately £3,000.”
Father Black said more details about the raffle and how to win the prizes will be released in due time.
“Anyone interested in purchasing raffle tickets should keep an eye on St Mirin’s Cathedral’s social media,” he
added.
The Paisley Daily Express will also have details of when the raffle tickets become available.
