Paolo Nutini fans' fury after tickets sell out in seconds then pop up on tout site at 15 times face value

Paolo Nutini fans have slammed touts for scooping up tickets to his gigs and selling them at more than 15 times their face value on Viagogo.

Last Request singer Paolo this week announced two huge homecoming shows in Oban as well as concerts in Sheffield and London ahead of his TRNSMT appearance at Glasgow Green in July.

Followers of the Scots star were delighted at the chance to see him at the end of the month, as his last appearance on stage was at Paisley Abbey in 2017.

Tickets for his shows at Oban's 650-seat Corran Hall and rest of the UK venues sold out within minutes of going live, with many soon appearing on secondary ticket site Viagogo.

Although the Oban tickets are not available on the site, Paolo's headline gigs in London are posted, with the cheapest ticket available to 350 capacity 100 Club at £369, with others available at £635 and £852.

The original price of the London tickets was £35 plus booking fee.

Bristol tickets are also on sale on Viagogo, with prices ranging from £298 to £536, while briefs for his Sheffield performances are on sale for £539.

Fans were quick to voice their displeasure at missing out on the original sale, with one person branding Viagogo sellers "robbing b*****ds".

They wrote: "So Paolo Nutini tickets for Oban sold out rapid style on Ticketmaster, no surprises there, now on "sale" on Viagogo for, wait for it, 15 times the original price. Robbing b******s."

Another wrote: "Can you explain how is it possible that I was in the queue and after 30secs everything was sold out. Also, why tickets are now available on viagogo for £600? Like at 9.01 you could purchase tickets from resellers."

Someone else added: "@PaoloNutini is there no way you can stop these sites @viagogo robbing your fans? Wouldn’t mind paying over price if knew you got the money and not them."

And another quipped: "Easier getting tickets for Willy Wonkas chocolate factory than it is for Paolo Nutini in Oban wtf is going on."

This afternoon, Paolo joined criticism of the touts and urged fans not to buy tickets from sites such as Viagogo, as they will "not be valid".

He said: "Please DON'T buy tickets at inflated prices from unauthorised resale sites such as Viagogo as those tickets will not be valid."

Viagogo has faced calls for a criminal investigation after the Daily Record previously discovered it had listed millions of pounds worth of illegal “spec” tickets.

Our latest probe found that a handful of mysterious traders on the rip-off secondary sales site are behind up to 80 per cent of all the tickets listed for many big shows.

And we revealed that the tickets are being listed speculatively by unknown, untraceable sellers who have not bought them from a primary seller.

A spokesperson for viagogo said: “viagogo provides a safe and fully regulated platform for ticket bookers who have spare tickets or no longer wish to attend an event to sell these on to fans who may have missed out the first time round.

“This service, where prices are ultimately determined by the fans in a free marketplace, takes nothing away from artists, promoters and venues who, in the case Paolo Nutini’s popular run of shows, sold out all their tickets at the prices they set.

“Furthermore any restrictive conditions imposed by an event organiser are always clearly displayed on our platform and fans should have peace of mind that in the rare case they are refused entry to an event, they are covered by the viagogo Guarantee.”
