Panti Bar opens books of condolence for murdered Michael Snee and Aidan Moffitt

Panti Bar, a pub popular with Dublin's LGBTQ+ community, has opened two books of condolence for Michael Snee and Aidan Moffitt who were murdered in Sligo over a 24 hour period this week.

42 year old Aidan Moffitt was found dead on Monday night, while 58 year old Michael Snee was found dead on Tuesday night. Both had suffered severe physical injuries.

22 year old Yousef Palani was charged yesterday with their murders.

Vigils are set to take place all over the country while one of the city's favourite LGBTQ+ bars has opened books of condolence for the two men.

The books are located in the venue's downstairs lounge and will be open to sign every evening from 4pm until 10pm over the long weekend until Monday, April 18.

"As a community, we have felt the shock and grief these shocking deaths have brought," the venue wrote on social media.

"We welcome people to sign them or read them. We hope some solace can be gained from writing down some words for these two men, who were members of our community."

A vigil will be held this evening outside the Dail for Michal and Aidan all victims of homophobic and transphobic abuse.

The vigil will take place at 6pm.

Vigils are also taking place across the country over the bank holiday weekend including Cork, Galway, Waterford, Limerick, Drogheda and Dundalk.

CEO of LGBT Ireland Paula Fagan said earlier in the week: "This has been a dark week for the LGBTI+ community in Ireland.

"We are still reeling from the vicious homophobic assault on Dame Street in Dublin in recent days and, now, we are deeply saddened by the events in Sligo."
