With head coaching candidates San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans and New England Patriots inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo recently dropping out of the running, the Carolina Panthers have added a new name to their search.
As first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the team has requested an interview with Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. And per Joe Person of The Athletic, Evero—who’s one of the hotter names at the moment—is expected to take the interview.
The #Panthers requested an interview with #Broncos DC Ejiro Evero for their head coaching job, per source.
That's four for Evero, who also spoke with Denver and the #Colts and has the #Texans next week. A lot of interest.

A former safety, the Colchester, England native began his career as a coach in 2005—as an assistant at his alma mater of the University of California, Davis. He’d jump to the NFL two years later, as a defensive quality control coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Evero proceeded to pick up a number of stops and job titles from there—including with the San Francisco 49ers (quality control coach, offensive assistant and defensive assistant), Green Bay Packers (defensive quality control coach), Los Angeles Rams (safeties coach, secondary coach and passing game coordinator) and, of course, with Denver as their defensive coordinator.
Under Evero, the Broncos allowed the seventh-fewest yards per game (320.0) in 2022.
