We have our first name in the Carolina Panthers’ 2024 head-coaching search.
That name, as first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, is Brian Callahan. Per Pelissero, the team has requested an interview with the current Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator.
Callahan got his start on the NFL sidelines as a coaching assistant for the Denver Broncos in 2010. He’d move on up in the ranks, as he was promoted to offensive quality control coach in 2011 and offensive assistant in 2013.
After his six seasons in Denver, Callahan spent his next three years as a quarterbacks coach. He worked for the Detroit Lions in 2016 and 2017, and then for the Oakland Raiders in 2018.
The next campaign marked the beginning of his play-calling career, as Callahan was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019. He’d help lead the Bengals to an AFC title in the 2021 season, where the offense averaged 361.5 total yards per contest.
