Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton delivered in his very first start of the 2024 campaign.
The 36-year-old has been voted as one of Week 3’s two FedEx Air & Ground Players of the Week for his stunning performance from this past Sunday’s upset victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. He completed 27 of his 36 throws for 319 yards and three touchdowns in the 36-22 win.
Dalton spoke about his triumphant outing after the game, his first since replacing struggling second-year quarterback Bryce Young as the team’s starter.
“It felt great,” he told reporters on Sunday. “For me to get the opportunity to be out there and for it to go the way it did, couldn’t have drawn it up any better. I thought our guys came out with the right attitude, the right mentality from the start, and we never slowed down. And that was the fun part about it. We didn’t just put one drive together, we were able to do it the whole game.”
Not a single NFL quarterback threw for both 300 yards and three touchdowns in a game this season prior to Dalton’s efforts.
