We may be seeing the start of a beautiful relationship.
On Thursday, the Carolina Panthers held the introductory press conference for their new power duo of president of football operations/general manager Dan Morgan and head coach Dave Canales. And of the handful of themes that came out of the event, none stuck with folks more than Morgan’s desire for some dawgs.
“First of all, we need to find those leaders, those competitors, as J-Stew [Jonathan Stewart] would say, those dawgs,” the former linebacker said of improving the roster. “Like, we need some dawgs. Like, we gotta get some guys that are passionate about football, that love football, that wanna come out every day and compete on the practice field, in the weight room. We need competitors. We gotta bring that back here. We gotta bring that back here to Bank of America Stadium, to where people get excited about coming to see our team.”
Well, Canales may have taken Morgan’s call to the pound a bit literally. He posted this to Twitter on Friday night:

The other prevalent theme from Thursday’s presser was alignment. Morgan and Canales, as they’ve both stressed, want everyone in the building on the same page and working towards the same goal.
So, how’s that for alignment?
Welcome to the family, Shogun!
