The free agent negotiation period is almost set to begin. But the Carolina Panthers are probably hoping that two of their own free agents don’t do much negotiating elsewhere.
According to Darin Gantt of Panthers.com, the team has already extended offers to center Bradley Bozeman and running back D’Onta Foreman. They are, obviously, considered top priorities for the organization this offseason.
Bozeman and Foreman, both free-agent additions from last spring, stepped up into starting roles in the middle of the 2022 campaign—helping kickstart what was a stagnant offense. The former took over for an injured Pat Elflein in Week 7 and never missed a single offensive snap while the latter recorded career-highs in rushing yards (914) and rushing touchdowns (five).
General manager Scott Fitterer mentioned their names, in particular, at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine almost two weeks ago.
“Obviously, a tight end, we could use another receiver,” he said when asked of his team’s needs. “I like where our offensive line is at. We need to . . . uh . . . we’re working on Bozeman—if we can get that piece in place. Obviously, [D’Onta] Foreman. There’s a lot of pieces in place.”
Bozeman and Foreman will be able to talk to other teams beginning at 12 p.m. ET today.
