This is either waving a white flag or trying to save what is left of Bryce Young’s psyche.
The Carolina Panthers are benching the former No. 1 overall pick out of Alabama and will start veteran Andy Dalton in Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Young is 2-16 as a starter. He has thrown 11 TD passes and 13 interceptions. He has been sacked 68 times.
The trade for the No. 1 pick in 2023 with the Chicago Bears continues to haunt the Panthers, who are 0-2 and have been outscored 83-13.
Carolina’s 2025 second-round pick still is going to Chicago as the final piece of the Bryce Young trade, which went like this:
Bears received:
🏈 WR DJ Moore
🏈 2023 first-round pick (OT Darnell Wright)
🏈 2023 second-round pick (CB Tyrique Stevenson)

This decision is a sharp contract to what coach Dave Canales said after the 26-3 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
“Bryce is our quarterback,” Canales said simply.
