Panthers add WR Dezmon Patmon to practice squad

The Carolina Panthers entered Tuesday without a complete active roster and without a complete practice squad. But they’ll be leaving it, at the very least, with the latter.

As reported by Darin Gantt of Panthers.com this evening, the team has signed wideout Dezmon Patmon to their practice squad. The addition of the 25-year-old receiver now rounds out the initial 16-player group heading into the 2023 campaign.

Patmon, a San Diego, Cali. native, played his college ball at Washington State University from 2016 to 2019. There, he reeled in 156 receptions for 1,976 yards and 13 touchdowns over 36 contests.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder was then selected by Frank Reich’s Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft. He appeared in just one game during his rookie campaign.

After beginning 2021 on injured reserve, Patmon played in eight outings for the Colts in his sophomore season. He recorded two catches, one of which went for a 14-yard touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16.

Patmon was most recently a member of the Buffalo Bills, as he was signed to their practice squad on Jan. 17, 2023. He was waived prior to final roster cuts on Aug. 27.
