Panini has launched its FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 sticker collection and Wales is front and centre

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 sticker book is here and naturally, the Welsh flag has been placed front and centre.

The sticker book, which is available from Tuesday, August 25, has been produced by Panini for every edition of the competition since 1970. Inside, collectors can find all 32 qualified teams, represented by 18 squad players.

Fanatics will accumulate stickers of players, official strips and badges, plus 50 "special stickers", totalling a whopping 670 in total. For those who are really into their collecting, Panini have also launched "super-rare stickers" which are randomly available in standard packets.

These "super-rare" stickers stand out from the main collection, featuring what the company have described as an "action image" on the front. There are only 20 players who have been selected for this, which Panini say are both legends and rookies. The two are represented in different colour variations - WalesOnline wonders if maybe Gareth Bale is one of them?

The Welsh football team captured the hearts of the nation, ending 64 years of pain and qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2022, after beating Ukraine 1-0 back in June. The Gareth Bale free-kick which was deflected in by Andriy Yarmolenko catapulted Wales out of the shadow of the 1958 team and into November's tournament - recount the moment Wales qualified here.

Wales are set to face the United States of America, Iran and England in the group stages of the World Cup later this year while they will benefit from a £10m cash boost as a result of their glorious campaign. Players celebrated their success at none other than Gareth Bale's Elevens bar in the Cardiff City centre.
