Panchkula civil hospital gets paediatric intensive care unit

PANCHKULA: The civil hospital in Sector 6 has launched a special paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) with nine beds and nine ventilators. PICU will tackle cases like cardiac arrest, respiratory issues and serious illness. These facilities will be provided free of cost.

Dr Rohit Sharma, in-charge, PICU at the Sector 6 civil hospital said that the facility has been started on trial basis. He said that nine ventilators and two isolation beds have been kept for the children. Serious illnesses related to children, including respiratory system failure, children in shock and cardiac arrest, among other serious illnesses can be treated here now.
