Pam Bondi’s DOJ sues California, New York and 4 other states for refusing to hand over sensitive voter information

The Department of Justice filed lawsuits against six states on Thursday because they refused to give private voter registration data that includes sensitive personal information. California, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania were sued in federal courts after they said no to handing over complete voter rolls with birth dates, names, partial Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.

Attorney General Pam Bondi stood by the legal action in a statement. She said “Clean voter rolls are the foundation of free and fair elections. Every state has a responsibility to ensure that voter registration records are accurate, accessible, and secure – states that don’t fulfill that obligation will see this Department of Justice in court.”
