A tragic incident occurred at a checkpoint in Hebron in the occupied West Bank, where a 20-year-old Palestinian woman lost her life after an encounter with Israeli troops. The woman, identified as Maimunah Abdel Al-Hamid Harahsha, was reportedly shot by Israeli soldiers following an alleged attempt to stab an IDF soldier.
The Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs confirmed the death of Harahsha, stating that she was killed by gunfire in the northern part of Hebron. On the other hand, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement detailing the events leading to the fatal shooting.
According to the IDF, the incident took place at the Okfim Junction, where an attempted stabbing attack was thwarted by IDF soldiers stationed at a post in the area. The IDF reported that the young woman was armed with a knife and charged towards the soldiers, prompting them to respond with gunfire, resulting in her elimination. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by the soldiers during the confrontation.
