Palestinian Hospitals In Northern Gaza Running Out Of Fuel

A Palestinian boy wounded in an Israeli strike is assisted in Kuwaiti Hospital, amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip

A dire situation is unfolding in northern Gaza as a Palestinian hospital director issues a warning about the imminent depletion of fuel supplies in three healthcare facilities. Dr. Hussam Abu Saifiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, has raised concerns that patients relying on ventilators at the hospital are at risk of dying if fuel is not allowed to enter the region.

Despite numerous attempts to secure fuel deliveries, the Israeli military has reportedly blocked access, exacerbating the crisis. As a result, patients have been transferred to other hospitals in Gaza City following an evacuation order issued by the Israeli military for Kamal Adwan, Al-Awda, and the Indonesian Hospital.

In a video shared by the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Abu Saifiya described the situation as a 'new challenge' and a 'catastrophic situation,' emphasizing the urgent need for fuel within the next 24 hours. The dire circumstances are not limited to Kamal Adwan Hospital alone, as Al-Awda and the Indonesian Hospital are also facing imminent fuel shortages.

The video footage from Kamal Adwan Hospital depicts health workers delicately caring for a baby and young children connected to ventilators. Some of the children are shown with wounds and bandages, highlighting the critical care being provided at the hospital, which houses the only specialized neonatal intensive care unit in the area, according to the UK-based NGO, Medical Aid for Palestinians.
