Pakistan says Trump-led call with regional leaders helped achieve ‘meaningful progress’ in U.S.-Iran talks

Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Sunday that “meaningful progress” had been achieved in ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations following a telephone call led by U.S. President Donald Trump with leaders from Pakistan and key West Asian countries.

In a post on X, Dar said the call involving leaders of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar, Egypt, the UAE and Jordan marked “a significant step closer toward the shared objective of regional peace, stability, and an early diplomatic outcome”.

Dar praised Trump’s “leadership and commitment to dialogue and diplomacy” and also acknowledged the role played by U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other members of the U.S. negotiating team.

He also thanked the Iranian leadership, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, for their “constructive engagement” in advancing peace efforts.
