Pakistan's batting coach Mohammad Yousuf pulls out New Zealand tour

NEW DELHI: Mohammad Yousuf, Pakistan's batting coach, has withdrawn from the New Zealand tour due to his daughter's illness. The former captain had notified the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about his decision to step back.

The PCB has confirmed that no replacement will be named for Yousuf as the squad departs for New Zealand on Wednesday.

Following Pakistan's unsuccessful Champions Trophy campaign, Yousuf had been appointed as the batting coach for the upcoming series, which includes five T20Is and three ODIs.

The PCB maintained Aaqib Javed as the interim head coach and Azhar Mahmood as assistant coach, with Yousuf being the sole new addition to the support staff.

The cricket board has announced plans to advertise the head coach position after the tour, as they seek a permanent appointment for the team.

Currently, Yousuf serves as a senior coach at the PCB's national cricket academy.
