Paisley town centre to be affected by lane closures related to new energy facility

Motorists’ journeys will be affected as roads in Paisley town centre will be closed to allow for work to be conducted on a new energy facility.

Lane closures and traffic management will be popping up until June while SP Energy Networks carries out required engineering works to connect a new third-party energy facility to the electricity network.

The works will connect the Forsa Energy site on Abercorn Street to the Paisley grid supply point substation on Blackhall Street.

This will require cabling works through the town centre via Cotton Street and Gauze Street, which will mean rolling temporary lane closures and traffic management along different sections of the route while the works are underway.

Temporary parking restrictions will also be required as the works progress on Blackhall Street for eastbound travel from Lonend – letters will be issued in advance to local residents to let them know what’s happening and when.

Aileen Rourke, SP Energy Networks district general manager, said: “While we’re doing everything we can to carry out these works for Forsa Energy with as little disruption as possible, we know it will have an impact on people using and travelling through these parts of Paisley town centre.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and ask people to be mindful of these works when planning journey times – remembering that the restricted sections of the route will change as the works proceed. Our thanks to everyone for their patience and cooperation.”
