A Paisley yob threatened to stab a 15-year-old who had been “making advances” towards his younger sister.
Craig Ewing, of Cardell Drive, appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court from custody where he admitted threatening to stab the boy on April 22.
The 21-year-old thug also made threats to the same teenager just six days later.
Prosecutor, Jason Stark told the court: “Around 8.15pm on April 22, the complainer was with a witness at Ferguslie Gardens when the accused approached acting in an aggressive manner.
“He was shouting and swearing at the complainer threatening to stab him while reaching into his jacket intimating he was in possession of a bladed item.
"He stated, ‘you’re lucky she's there or I’d have done much more.’
"The accused then left the area.”
Mr Stark told the court that, around 7.45pm on April 28, the victim was outside the town’s Piazza Shopping Centre when Ewing approached him.
Mr Stark explained: “Ewing approached and was acting in an aggressive manner saying, ‘f**k off’ and called the complainer a ‘junkie b*****d.’
“And he stated, ‘I’ll slap f**k out of you, I know where you live.’
“The complainer reported the matter to the police and the accused was traced and made no reply to caution and charge.”
Defence agent Jim Clarke asked for reports to be called for given Ewing’s “young age.”
Mr Clarke also asked for Ewing to be released on bail for the preparation of reports stating the young thug was “now ashamed of his conduct” which occurred while he was already subject to bail orders.
Mr Clarke added: “By no means is it a mitigation, but the complainer had been making advances towards the girl who was mentioned in the crown narrative, and that is Mr Ewing’s younger sister - he wasn’t supportive of that.”
Sheriff Lindsay Kooner said: “You’re 21-years of age, I’m going to call for a criminal justice social work report in this case and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
“But you have plead guilty to two offences over a short period of time, each with bail aggravations.
“I’ve listened to what Mr Clarke has said today and I am not prepared to grant you bail, you’ll be remanded for the preparation of the reports meantime.”
Sentence was deferred until July 8 and Ewing was remanded in custody meantime.
