A pair of slippers were left in the street today after a dog attacked two women in a "savage" attack this morning.
Emergency services were called to reports of a dog attack on Goodison Road in Walton at around 12.30am on Thursday, April 20. At the scene, Merseyside police officers found that two women had been attacked by two Staffordshire Terriers outside a property on the road.
Both women were provided trauma first aid by police and were taken to hospital with severe injuries where they remain in a stable condition. Both dogs were also detained by police.

On Thursday morning, a police cordon remained in place as forensic officers carried out their investigations. Officers could be seen taking pictures of the road and marking several items, which included a pair of slippers and a shoe.
Only those who lived inside the cordon were able to come and go, other pedestrians and motorists were diverted. Many people within the cordon could be seen watching the police activity from their front doors.
One woman told the ECHO she was woken to loud noises during the early hours of the morning, what she believed to be around 2am. She said it sounded like "loud bangs" and feared the worst.
One couple, who live nearby and did not wish to be named, said there was an "unusual" level of activity as they saw over 15 police vehicles, ambulance vehicles as well as armed response and the dogs unit. A police helicopter was also seen and heard circling the nearby area.
The man said: "We heard the helicopter and went on the tracking app and it was circling Scotland Road and Boundary street and then we heard sirens and they were all over the area then. We thought it was nothing new but you get curious, so we went to have a look to see what was going on."
Police were also heard shouting to residents to stay indoors. The man added: "A police car and ambulance left Walton Lane on blue lights."
At the scene on Thursday, one woman expressed concerns that children would be walking past the police cordon and was worried for their safety "if dogs are running loose". Another passer-by said it was "not unusual" to see a police cordon in place.
The ECHO previously reported that a 40-year-old woman, from Liverpool, has been arrested on suspicion of owning a dog dangerously out of control causing injury to others. She has been taken to a police station in Merseyside where she remains in custody.
A horrified dad previously spoke out about the attack as he said he saw two white dogs that were "red with blood" after a woman was reportedly "savaged". Kevin Cannon said he witnessed first hand the frenzied attack which was "one of those things you only ever read about or see on the TV".
Detective inspector Neil Dillon said: "This incident has left two women with serious injuries and will have been an extremely distressing incident for all who witnessed it and our officers who were involved. I would like to commend our officers whose quick response and actions stopped this horrific attack from causing any more significant injuries to those involved.
"Our enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing, and we have seized the dogs for the safety of the community. We have a dedicated team who review all cases concerning dangerous dogs, and are keen to speak to any witnesses who may have seen the incident or these dogs on previous occasions.
"I want to emphasize that dog owners need to be mindful of their dogs' behaviours at all times , particularly when they are in the care of others. If owners or anyone who is looking after any dogs that are liable to be aggressive please make sure they are in a protected space and on a lead or muzzled if out in public.
