Pair of Georgia Bulldogs make ESPN’s preseason All-America team

A pair of Georgia Bulldogs have made ESPN’s preseason All-America team ahead of the 2022 college football season. Georgia tight end Brock Bowers and defensive tackle Jalen Carter both made ESPN’s All-America team, which only featured a first-team.

Brock Bowers was one of the top tight ends in the country last season despite being a true freshman. He battled through a shoulder injury and helped Georgia win the national championship. Bowers finished the season with 56 catches for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Bowers scored totaled 330 receiving yards, 22 receptions, and five touchdowns over his final four games last season. He will be a key piece of Georgia’s elite tight end room for the 2022 college football season.

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter finished last season with three sacks and 37 tackles, but was often times considered the top player on Georgia’s elite defense in 2021. Carter will be leaned on more as a junior. He’s expected to play more snaps this season.

Carter is projected as one of the top picks in the 2023 NFL draft. Who will help Carter rush the passer? Georgia returns senior outside linebacker Nolan Smith, but ESPN thinks that true freshman Mykel Williams will make an immediate impact for the Bulldogs.

Alabama has the most players (four) on ESPN’s All-America team. Clemson and Ohio State both have three players on the team.
