Paedophile who forced teenager to have sex after plying her with drugs dead

A jailed paedophile who plied a teenage girl with drugs before forcing her to have sex died after falling ill in prison.

Lenford Lloyd White, then 64, was locked up for 10 years in 2018 after being found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child at Manchester Crown Court.

White forced the teenage girl to have sex with him and others at a flat in Gorton after she was introduced to him by associate Miquil Lucas Diozzi, who was also jailed. White was 55 at the time he began abusing her.

While serving time at HMP Manchester, White became ill and spent months in hospital before he died on March 19, 2020. His inquest concluded at Manchester Coroner's Court last week, on May 3.

An investigation into his death was launched on May 26, 2020. According to the Record of Inquest, White had first undergone abdominal surgery for a suspected small bowel obstruction in May 2019, where he had his inflamed appendix removed. He was discharged back to prison.

However he was readmitted to North Manchester General Hospital months later, on August 15 2019 and remained there until his death the following March.

He was experiencing abdominal discomfort and liquid was detected in his abdominal cavity. White underwent a second operation on September 11, during which surgeons discovered his bowels were 'clumped together'. In an effort to separate them, a tear was made and repaired.

However, it was heard that the tear delayed further treatment by six months, contributing to his weakness.

Following surgery, White was put on intravenous nutrition where there were difficulties accessing the line. The Record of Inquest states he did not comply with the nutrition regimen and lost 25 per cent of his body mass.

After surgery, his abdominal wound started leaking and bowel bacteria were discovered in his abdomen. A third surgery was not possible due to complications of the second surgery.

White became immobile due to the impossibility of operating on his hip replacement and was also suffering from sepsis and diagnosed with prostate cancer.

His condition continued to deteriorate until March 19 when he passed away in hospital. Doctors noted his medical causes of death were bronchopneumonia, complications of surgical treatment of Intra-Peritoneal Inflammatory Collection and carcinoma of the prostate gland, coronary artery atheroma and chronic obstructive airway disease.

Recording a narrative conclusion, assistant coroner Angharad Davies said: "Mr Lenford Lloyd White was admitted to North Manchester General Hospital on the 15 August 2019 due to abdominal discomfort. Complications during surgery, multiple co-morbidities and difficulties to maintain nutrition led to Bronchopneumonia, which ultimately caused the death of Mr White."
