Padraig Harrington has compared Saudi Arabia getting blamed for 9/11 with how the Irish people and government were blamed for the IRA's atrocities.

Appearing on RTE's Liveline to discuss the controversial deal between the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Harrington drew comparisons with the feeling towards Saudi Arabia and their government's alleged involvement in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, to how people viewed Ireland's relationship to the IRA back in the 1990's.

Harrington claims that Irish people were seen as supporters of the IRA and that other countries thought the Irish government supported the IRA even though that wasn't the truth.
