Paddy Pimblett backed to submit Logan Paul after YouTuber called out UFC star

Paddy Pimblett has been backed to submit Logan Paul if the pair are ever signed up for a UFC fight.

Rising bantamweight star Sean O'Malley is a close friend of Paul's but has remained honest about his feelings on a potential bout between the YouTuber and fast-rising prospect Pimblett. The social media star called for a fight with the former Cage Warriors champion after seeing him win his first two fights in the UFC, and accrue a massive following as a result.

And despite Paul's considerable size advantage and impressive backgrounds in wrestling and boxing, O'Malley believes that Pimblett's ground game would be too substantial. He is a jiu-jitsu black belt, while Paul has never trained in the discipline at any real level.

“Paddy could sub him," O'Malley said during an episode of his podcast the Timbo Sugar Show. "If Logan’s never really done jiu-jitsu, he’s only wrestled - is Paddy a black belt? Because he’s got sick jiu-jitsu. I’ve seen. Yeah, he probably could. But that’d be an interesting fight.”

O'Malley met the Paul brother Jake and Logan at the younger sibling's bout with Ben Askren last April. He and Logan struck up a friendship while celebrating as Jake landed a massive knockout win over former Bellator champion Askren, with whom O'Malley is also close.

And he believes that it's time for the elder Paul to get in the ring again after his exhibition bout with Floyd Mayweather last summer, particularly given how impressive his performance was going the distance with the 50-0 boxing legend. His brother Jake is known for fighting top MMA fighters in the boxing ring, and O'Malley wants him to follow suit.

"Imagine if we had Logan fighting some of these guys too?" O'Malley asked his co-host Tim Welch. "That would be f**king fire. Logan was impressive against Floyd [Mayweather]. His hands down, he was kind of athletic."

The YouTube star made his challenge to Pimblett during a recent appearance on the MMA Hour after watching him balloon from lightweight to a much bigger figure. The Scouse fighter is known for putting on large amounts of weight between fights, leading Paul to believe they are similar sizes outside of fighting limits which are artificially low.

"I have found out who I would like to fight if I did a UFC match. Paddy the Baddy (Pimblett)," Paul said. "They say he is the next Conor McGregor right, he is super charismatic and entertaining as hell. He is on the come-up and young like me and has a real loud mouth. I like the way he can perform.

"I think I might have him on my podcast and say to him straight up 'I would like to fight you in the UFC'. He could get up to 185lbs and I could get down to 185lbs for a UFC match. It's the only thing I don't know if I would win, he is a good a** fighter and I have never had an MMA fight. If I am doing it obviously I think I am going to win.

"But now I am looking at it and if I do a UFC fight then I have to do it with someone else who can sell tickets. He is still relatively new and he is young and entertaining so I think the fans will eat that s*** up. There is too much going on at the moment but yeah."
