Paddy McGuinness admits he hasn't told his children they have autism

Paddy McGuinness has revealed that he and his wife Christine have yet to tell their children they have autism.

The Top Gear presenter, 48, shares three children with wife Christine McGuinness - twins Leo and Penelope, eight, and five-year-old Felicity.

All three children have autism, while Christine recently discovered she is also autistic.

The couple have just released a brand-new podcast, Table Talk, where their aim is to raise better awareness for families raising a disabled or seriously ill child.

Following the success of their recent documentary, which saw the couple lift the lid on their personal experiences as a family with three autistic children, Paddy and Christine meet six families across the UK with disabled children, to learn more about the realities of family life, the worries and wonders they face.

During the first episode of the eye-opening podcast, proud dad Paddy revealed that he has yet to tell his eldest children about their condition.

Twins Leo and Penelope, 8, are oblivious to their autism - but their proud parents explained they haven't found the right time to explain the situation to them yet as they are happy as they are.

"Our eldest children are both eight, and we've not mentioned it to them yet," Paddy revealed on the podcast.

"Not for any other reason - but we just feel as though they are happy as they are at the minute. It might be a bit much for them, so we are kind of picking our moment with them."

Sharing her insight into why they haven't yet told their kids, Christine added: "I don't know if there is a right time to tell them to be honest."

Paddy and Christine's honest confession comes after Paddy recently opened up about his concerns that his children will never know how much he truly loves them.

In the family's show, Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family And Autism, the funnyman opened up about his fears of his children not understanding his love for them.

Choking back tears, he explained: "What gets to me with them all, and it’s only how I think, I think, ‘Will they ever know how loved they are? Do they understand what love is?

"When I’m with Leo every night in bed I will say to him, ‘Who loves you more than anything in the world?’. He’ll say, ‘you do’. Then I’ll go, ‘Do you love Daddy?’ and he’ll go, ‘yeah’.

"But I think to myself, ‘Is he just saying that, or does he know that?’"
