Tributes have been paid to Paddy Hopkirk following the motorsport legend's death at the age of 89.
Hopkirk "passed away peacefully" at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire on Thursday, said a family statement.
Most famous for winning the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally, Hopkirk competed on the international stage and became one of the most decorated drivers from these shores.

He is survived by his wife Jenny, children Katie, Patrick and William, and six grandchildren.
The family statement read: "First and foremost, Paddy was a loving husband, father and grandfather, whose passing will leave a huge hole in the lives of those closest to him.
"But Paddy also leaves an incredible legacy of motorsport and business success, while his hard work in support of the British motorsport and wider car industry continued until his final days.
"His family, friends and fans will never forget his sharp wit and wicked smile. He brought fun and joy to anyone in his company and inspired many."
Born in Belfast in April 1933, Hopkirk won the famous Monte Carlo Rally in a Mini Cooper S alongside Henry Liddon. He had finished sixth the previous year on his debut drive at the event.
The victory put Hopkirk's name on the global map, with the rally star receiving telegrams from countless dignitaries and celebrities including The Beatles. He was also afforded the Freedom of the City of Belfast.
In 2010 Hopkirk was included in the first inductees of the Rally Hall of Fame He was also elected as a life member of the British Racing Drivers Club in 1967.
He was also awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours in 2016.
In a statement, Mini Sport said: “It is with heavy hearts that we are sharing the news with you that our very dear friend Paddy Hopkirk MBE passed away on Thursday evening.
“Paddy was a fantastic friend to all of us here at Mini Sport, but so much more than that, he was a part of our Mini family.
"We would like to extend a special thank you to Paddy for everything that he has done throughout his illustrious career, both for Mini Sport & the Mini itself… Paddy achieved the impossible, he cemented the Mini in history and will be forever known as one of the greatest motorsport heroes of all time.
"He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
