Shoppers at the Johnstone Morrisons got to see the pleasant face belonging to Paddington Bear as he raised money for homeless veterans.
The Homeless Veterans Project made a visit to the store to raise money for the charity which supports veterans and provides accommodation and offers support to those who have served in the Armed Forces
Donna Armstrong, vice chairman at Homeless Veterans Project, said: “The event went really well. We often collect from Morrisons, Johnstone but this time we thought we would do something nice to give something back. So, I managed to get a mascot costume as Paddington Bear. Him being a homeless bear is very appropriate for homeless veterans.

“I dressed up as Paddington for the collection. We made Paddington’s little suitcase and filled that with sweeties for the kids, gave them a balloon and just brought a smile to their faces.”
The event was a success as they raised just over £1,500 at the Morrison’s store.
The Homeless Veterans Project are looking ahead in order to help more veterans after they have served by planning more fundraising events.
Donna added: “I just did a Kilt Walk in Dundee, it was 26 miles and I did that dressed as Paddington Bear.
“We are doing a street collection in Largs this weekend for the Vikings Festival as well. I will probably be dressed as Paddington for that too.”
The Homeless Veterans Project also won the Organisation award in July by the supermarket for going above and beyond for those within their community as part of their Moment of Hope Awards.
