Packers vs. Jets: Live updates, scoring and highlights

The New York Jets (4-2) stunned the favored Green Bay Packers (3-3) on Sunday at Lambeau Field, using three touchdowns in the second half to race past Matt LaFleur’s team by a 27-10 final score in Week 6.

Here’s how it happened, with scoring plays and highlights from Sunday’s matchup in Green Bay.

Packers 0, Jets 0: Rashan Gary third-down sack

An ugly defensive battle is brewing. Both teams have had three drives; the six possessions have netted two first downs and six failed third downs, including this one from Rashan Gary. The Packers edge rusher now has six sacks in six games to start 2022.

Packers 0, Jets 0: Allen Lazard big catch

The Packers offense needed a spark on the team’s fourth drive. This 35-yard completion to Allen Lazard, on a terrific throw from Aaron Rodgers, could be it. The throw converted a 3rd-and-7 situation.

Packers 0, Jets 0: Blocked field goal

The scoreless contest continues. Quinnen Williams blocked Mason Crosby’s 47-yard field goal attempt on the first play of the second quarter.

Packers 0, Jets 0: Blocked punt by Eric Wilson

The Packers responded in kind to the Jets’ big special teams play by blocking this punt. The blocker? Newcomer Eric Wilson, who was signed off the Saints practice squad last week. He’s a special teams stud.

Jets 3, Packers: Greg Zuerlein 32-yard field goal

A fumbled exchange between Aaron Rodgers and A.J. Dillon at the 34-yard line set up the Jets for a quick scoring drive. New York drove into the red zone but stalled on third down again (now 0-for-6), creating Zuerlein’s 32-yard field and the first points of the contest.

Packers 3, Jets 3: Mason Crosby 29-yard field goal

It took eight first-half drives, but the Packers are on the board. A six-play, 46-yard drive after the Jets missed a 53-yard field goal resulted in Green Bay’s first points of the first 30 minutes. Crosby nailed a field goal from in close to tie the game at 3-3 as time expired. The Jets get the ball to start the second half.

Jets 10, Packers 3: Braxton Berrios 20-yard TD

The Jets scored the game’s first touchdown on a 20-yard run from receiver Braxton Berrios, who found a seam to the left side of the formation off an end-around. The score was set up by a 41-yard completion from Zach Wilson to Corey Davis. The Jets now lead by a touchdown midway through the third quarter.

Jets 17, Packers 3: Blocked punt returned for TD

The Jets strike again. After another third-down sack ended a Packers drive, the Jets blocked Pat O’Donnell’s punt and returned it for a touchdown. Dallin Leavitt missed the block on the punt. Matt LaFleur’s team now trails by two touchdowns at home.

Jets 17, Packers 10: Allen Lazard 25-yard TD

The Packers finally found the end zone on a 25-yard touchdown from Aaron Rodgers to Allen Lazard. It was a staple play: slot fade to Lazard. Rodgers threw it to the back-shoulder and Lazard made a terrific catch. Game on.

Jets 24, Packers 10: Breece Hall 34-yard TD

It’s 24-10 after this well-designed touchdown run from the rookie, Breece Hall. The Packers now have 14:52 left to avoid a 2-game losing streak and a 3-3 record entering a 3-game road trip.

Jets 27, Packers 10: Greg Zuerlein 23-yard FG

The Jets now lead by three scores with around three minutes left. New York turned the Packers over on downs, then marched 12 plays (taking up over 5:00 of game time) to go up 17 points. Only a goal-line stand kept the Jets from taking a 31-10 lead. As it stands, it’s 27-10.
