The Green Bay Packers restructured the contract of linebacker De’Vondre Campbell and created roughly $2.6 million in salary cap space, according to Field Yates of ESPN.
Campbell had a $3 million roster bonus due March 17. Converting the roster bonus into a signing bonus and adding a void year in 2027 was part of lowering his cap number from around $8.1 million to a little over $5.5 million in 2023.
The addition of a void year allowed the Packers to spread the new signing bonus out over five seasons (instead of four) but will create a bigger dead money hit when his deal voids.
After re-signing Keisean Nixon, placing the second-round tender on Yosh Nijman and restructuring Campbell, the Packers have roughly $17.2 million in cap space, per Over the Cap.
Campbell is the sixth player to have his contract restructured by the Packers this offseason, joining Aaron Jones, Jaire Alexander, Preston Smith, Kenny Clark and David Bakhtiari.
The Packers may also restructure the contracts of cornerback Rasul Douglas and punter Pat O’Donnell, who also have roster bonuses due on March 17.
