The Green Bay Packers returned quarterback Jordan Love to practice for Thursday’s padded practice, according to Wes Hodkiewicz of the team’s official site.
Love, who injured his groin during Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, missed Wednesday’s practice.
Coach Matt LaFleur said Love was “limited” and wouldn’t expand more on his participation during practice on Thursday.
LaFleur said Love would have a chance to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday whether he practiced or not this week. Love’s return to the practice field — even in a limited capacity — suggests the door is wide open for him to play in three days.
On Wednesday, Love said it was “realistic” he could play Sunday, but he needed to be able to move around and navigate in and out of the pocket well enough for him to be available. He was removed from the game last Sunday after he said his leg “locked” up and he could no longer protect himself. Practicing Thursday — especially in less than ideal weather conditions — provides an opportunity for Love to test out his mobility in an on-field setting.
Love wasn’t the only player to return Thursday. Running back Josh Jacobs (ankle), left guard Elgton Jenkins (glute) and left tackle Rasheed Walker (knee) were all available practice Thursday after missing Wednesday’s session. The three absences: cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee), safety Evan Williams (hamstring) and center Josh Myers (wrist).
The Packers will provide an updated injury report on Thursday. The final injury report with playing status designations arrives Friday afternoon.
This post will be updated with comments from LaFleur after practice.
