The Green Bay Packers went on the underdog run of the year this past NFL season, and their quarterback knows exactly what it’s going to take for his young team to reach the next step.
While speaking with Sports Illustrated’s Brice Butler ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, Jordan Love explained what he thinks his team needs to improve on in 2024.
“I think early on in the season we had to find ways to win,” Love said. “A lot of our losses were close games that we had an opportunity at the end and we couldn’t find a way to win it.
“Going forward, that’s going to be the thing in those close games—we gotta find a way to execute, capitalize—make as few mistakes as possible and win those close ones,” he continued. “It’s gonna propel us to the postseason again. And once we get there, man, we been there. We seen what it’s like to lose and be that close, so we’re excited; we’re fueled up going into this next season.”
In his first year as the Packers’ starting quarterback, the 25-year-old led his team to a 9–8 record and a playoff berth, upsetting the Dallas Cowboys on the road in the wild-card round. His team’s Cinderella run came to an end at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, though, in a tight 24–21 affair.
