Packers’ Jones Has Message for Jets Fans Amid Aaron Rodgers Rumors

While Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’s future is still unknown, teammate Aaron Jones admitted where he would like to see the four-time NFL MVP next season.

“I hope he is not going nowhere,” Jones said Tuesday on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. “Especially not Vegas. You know he played with Tae [Davante Adams], so I hope that wouldn’t happen. He’s my quarterback, so I hope he’s back. If he’s back, we are ready to ball with him. If not, then we have Jordan Love, who’s more than capable, and he’s ready to ball as well and ready for his shot.”

Rodgers is contemplating staying in Green Bay next season for his 19th consecutive year there, moving to a new organization or retiring. Right now, the Jets appear to be the frontrunner and Rodgers reportedly spoke with New York on Monday

But, Jones thinks the Jets should look into picking up a different veteran quarterback.

“I definitely keep seeing that everywhere the Jets want him [Rodgers], but as of right now, he’s in Green Bay if he comes back and plays,” Jones said. “I don’t want him going anywhere. You guys [Jets fans] can have one of those veteran quarterbacks. Jimmy G [Garoppolo], he’s a winner and they can win with him. I like Jimmy G.”

Garoppolo is a free agent this offseason, but there hasn’t been much speculation about where he could end up. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan previously noted he doesn’t see “any scenario” in which Garoppolo stays with the 49ers, so Jones’s wish is definitely possible.

Rodgers, on the other hand, has been uncertain about his future all offseason so far. He even attended a “darkness retreat” to think the options through. Upon returning from the retreat last week, Rodgers said he will make his decision soon.
