The Green Bay Packers hosted Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan on an official top-30 visit ahead of the 2023 NFL draft, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Morgan completed 62.2 percent of his passes, tossed 65 touchdown passes and 32 interceptions and rushed for eight touchdowns over 51 games and 47 starts for the Gophers. He started games at Minnesota over five consecutive seasons (2018-22). His breakout season came in 2019 when he threw a school record 30 touchdown passes and only seven interceptions. Twice, he completed over 66 percent of his passes in a season, including 2022, when he completed a school record 66.9 percent.
Morgan (6-0, 204) was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. At Minnesota’s pro day, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.91 seconds, hit 30″ in the vertical leap, covered 9-8 in the broad jump, and finished the short shuttle in 4.45 seconds and the three-cone in 7..23 seconds. The Packers were in attendance.
Dane Brugler of The Athletic ranks Morgan as the No. 18 quarterback in the class and a likely priority free agent following the draft.
The Packers are searching for a quarterback to backup Jordan Love. Morgan, who is 24 years old, could be an option as a seventh-round pick or free-agent signing.
Morgan joins Henson Hooker and Sean Clifford as reported quarterback visits for the Packers this draft cycle.
