P. Jagadeesh, a 2017 Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, took charge as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of the East Godavari district in the Rajamahendravaram city on Wednesday.
Mr. Jagadeesh had earlier served as Chittor ASP, Andhra Pradesh Special Police, 14th Batallion Commandant, and Greyhounds Commander in Paderu. Upon taking office, he claimed to address the major challenges within the district, particularly the presence of blade batch gangs terrorising the Rajamahendravaram city and rural areas of East Godavari.
He said the rampant blade batch attacks in the region remains a prime challenge for the police as past attempts to crackdown on the gangs, who allegedly have close ties with local political leaders, have gone in vain.
