Several US celebrities have turned to Ozempic or Mounjaro, either to help manage Type 2 diabetes or to assist with weight loss. Their before-and-after results have sparked widespread public interest in both medications.

Ozempic (semaglutide) works as a weekly injection through a single mechanism called GLP-1, approved for Type 2 diabetes and weight management. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) uses a dual mechanism — GLP-1 and GIP — which researchers say makes it more effective for weight loss. Here are the celebrities who have spoken publicly about their experiences with both drugs.

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen has been open about turning to Ozempic following her miscarriage in 2020, a period during which she gained 40 pounds during pregnancy and struggled to manage her weight and hunger cues after losing her baby at 20 weeks.

'It's not about striving for perfection, because it doesn't make anybody else feel emotionally happy at the end of the day. It'll never truly fulfill you. But people are going to make their own decisions about their bodies and what will make them feel healthy and safe and proud of themselves, and everybody has a right to do those things,' she said.

Eric Stonestreet

Eric Stonestreet was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2009, around the same time he began appearing in 'Modern Family'. He kept the diagnosis private for years out of shame but has since become more open about it, crediting Mounjaro, which he has been taking weekly since it was approved in 2022, with transforming his approach to his health.

He described the medication as 'a game changer.' 'It has just been incredible. It's changed my lifestyle, changed my approach to eating, changed my approach to exercise,' he said.

Kathy Bates

Veteran actress Kathy Bates has credited a combination of lifestyle changes and Ozempic with helping her lose 100 pounds. During an appearance on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show', she was clear that the lifestyle changes came first, and that Ozempic, prescribed for her diabetes, accounted for the final stretch.

'I've recently gone on Ozempic and everybody said, "Oh, she did it with Ozempic" but that's not true. I started doing that about a year ago for my diabetes and that's helped me lose the last 15 pounds or so. But even with the Ozempic, I still have to pay attention to my eating,' she said.

Tracy Morgan

Comedian Tracy Morgan initially revealed he was on Ozempic as a joke, expecting no one to take him seriously but later confirmed it was true.

'I went and got a prescription and I got Ozempic. And I ain't letting it go,' he said — before later admitting: 'I've learned to out-eat Ozempic. I out-ate Ozempic. I've gained 40 pounds.'

Rosie O'Donnell

Rosie O'Donnell, who has spoken openly about her weight for much of her career, confirmed her use of Mounjaro through an Instagram post, in which she shared a photo of herself alongside the hashtag #mounjaro. The post came after she revealed she had dropped several dress sizes, a meaningful result for someone who had publicly lost and regained significant weight more than once over the years.
